Concordia’s FOFA Gallery Courtyard, in collaboration with Bonnie Baxter‘s advanced screenprint students from the Print Media program will be hosting a four day long progressive montage of public art installation, from Tuesday, April 3rd to Friday April 6th . Sixteen students will create a site-specific screenprint based installation transfiguring Le Mobile du MACL, a fourteen foot mobile pavilion of the Musée d’Art Contemporain des Laurentides.

Developped in dialogue with professional artists Jacinthe Loranger and Andrée-Anne Dupuis Bourret from the Print Media program’s Expanded Print Lecture Series, Après poses an open-ended reflection; implying a transformation from one state to another, alluding to the aftermath of a recent catastrophic event. The installation will present a collective vision of an imagined future in which nature has begun the process of reasserting itself, generating a semi-symbiotic merging of decayed urban structures and natural elements. Making the most out of repurposed resources, Après calls attention to the consumption of material goods and natural resources and how we ascribe value to them. Through sixteen unique lenses, the exhibition examines the simultaneous process of natural growth and structural decay in relation to the fragility of civilization.

Following this, the installation will be presented again in Saint-Jérôme’s Place des Festivités for a one-day happening and vernissage, on Saturday, April 14th. Also presented will be a video documentation of the Montréal process.

La Galerie FOFA de l’Université Concordia, en collaboration avec les étudiants en sérigraphie de niveau avancé du programme de médias d’impression donné par Bonnie Baxter, accueillera le montage progressif d’une installation d’art public, du 3 au 6 avril, dans la cour adjacente à FOFA. Les seize étudiants vont composer une installation in situ, transfigurant Le Mobile du MACL – le pavillion mobile de quatorze pied du Musée d’art Contemporain des Laurentides-.

Développé en dialogue avec les artistes professionnelles Jacinthe Loranger et Andrée-Anne Dupuis-Bourret, par le biais du programme de conférence étendu du département de médias d’impression, Après pose une réflexion ouverte impliquant une transformation d’un état à un autre, évoquant les contrecoups d’un événement catastrophique. Y sera présenté une vision collective d’un futur imaginé où la nature a entamé un processus de reconstitution de soi, générant un métissage semi-symbiotique de structures urbaines et d’éléments naturels. Tirant profit de matériaux revalorisés, Après mets en lumière la consommation de biens matériels et ressources naturelles, ainsi que la façon dont nous leur attribuons une valeur. À travers seize regards uniques, cette exposition examine les procédés simultanés de croissance naturelle et de détérioration structurelle, en relation avec la fragilité de la civilisation.

Suite à ce premier montage, l’installation sera de nouveau présentée à la Place des Festivités de Saint-Jérôme, au cours d’un happening et vernissage d’une journée, le samedi 14 avril.
